Express Entry Draw- June 13, 2018: 451 CRS score

On June 13, 2018 the IRCC invited 3,750 candidates to apply for permanent residence who were in the Express Entry pool with a CRS score of 451 and higher.

The increase in the draw size from 3,500 to 3,750 is welcomed news, however, the increase in the CRS score in not. It appears there were a large number (2,596) of candidates in the pool with scores between 451 - 600. The majority of these candidates are in Canada working on a work permit, which is the only realistic way to score additional points over 450.

Each year, students graduate in April / May, and are eligible to apply for PR in May - July of the following year, once they obtained 1 year of work experience. This large group of candidates with scores of 450+ are in fact students who have now obtained 1 year of experience and applying for PR.

As we move into July / August, we anticipate the CRS score to decrease into the 430 - 440 range as fewer students enter the pool. The IRCC is likely to keep the draw size at 3,750 for a few more draws and perhaps increase to 4,000 for another 3 or 4 draws. Should this occur, it will support lower CRS scores into the 430 range.

In 2018, 85,000 people are expected to be selected in Express Entry system, under the Federal Skilled Worker program.

The ideal candidate under Express Entry has a score of at least 415+. To calculate your Express Entry score, use our Express Entry CRS Calculator.
