On July 25, 2018 the IRCC issued 3,750 ITAs (invitations to apply for permanent residence) to candidates who were in the Express Entry pool with a CRS score of 441 and higher.
The IRCC has changed its strategy on the Express Entry draw this year. In previous years, the draw sizes were random which led to larger swings in the CRS cut-off selection score. At the beginning of 2018, the IRCC implemented a more methodical approach where draw sizes are kept the same for 4 or 5 draws, then increased by 250 or 500 for another 4 or 5 draws. The result of this change has kept the CRS score in a very narrow range between 440 and 450. Our firm does not anticipate seeing scores below 430 any time in the near future; draw sizes of 4,500+ or a change to the scoring system would be required for this to occur. As we move into August, we anticipate the CRS score to decrease into the 430 - 440 range, but not below this level. The IRCC is likely to increase the draw size to 4,000 for the next draw and hold this for 4 draws. Should this occur, it will support lower CRS scores into the 430 range.
In 2018, 85,000 people are expected to be selected in Express Entry system, under the Federal Skilled Worker program.
